Wold Crest

Project Brief:

When Shirali and Nirad Vengsarkar along with child Tiana, residing in an apartment at World Crest, approached us with a ‘Forsual – Formal yet Casual’ interior concept in mind, which was well-organized, welcoming, natural and rustic, we were beyond excited to bring their vision into reality.

The design and execution team comprises of:
– Interior Designer: Kanupriya Gupta

– Contractor: Sarojit and Jagbandhu

Project Highlights:

– Rustic furniture elements – Playing around with re-invention of antiques – Formal settings for living area – Artistic edge – ‘Imperfection is Beauty’ French style – Natural hues

Keeping the floor, walls and surface finish same, Clarus developed the design ideas keeping in mind he ‘not too perfect’ attitude, leading to rustic finish setting and re-inventing few old antique pieces with sharpening and polishing, with equal attention to the designing and execution of ‘sustainability’. Since the Vengsarkar’s wanted elements that spell ‘well organized’, we designed wardrobes which had separate sections for the various essentials including accessories paying attention to the tastes of Shirali and Nirad.

The seating components – the sofa and chairs – were designed with an intention to bring comfort along with a formal charm, hence we chose apt fabrics for the upholstery, rugs for the living room and bedrooms and to add to the transformation, planters were kept to complement the furniture and bring liveliness to the space. In some corners, we also used raw wood logs to add some vigour to dull spaces and add more rustic elements in the home.

For Tiana’s bedroom, we focussed on the declutter of books, toys and art section. We used organizers such as wickers and fabric baskets and sections to keep all the things neatly in the designated section. We also added a pop of colour by using solid reds, blues and yellows with some pinks on the wooden backgrounds.

Shirali being a great lover of Art, we used paintings to adorn the walls and metal decorative sand sculptures in the various corners of the house. Finally, we achieved a not too perfect but formal feel in the house which is very welcoming and we can name it as ‘Forsual’.

“The design is best when its’ not too thought of before, and that’s exactly what I wanted All corners of the house are designed the way I wanted. I feel more like home.”

Shirali Vengsarkar, Client

Shirali has a taste of European countries that she wanted to experience in the Indian structures and environment. We designed, made, picked and chose things keeping in mind the ‘laissez faire’ attitude. Finally, we achieved the thing which is missing in most spaces – liveliness.
